Basic customisation

Your firmware configuration from the factory: the adapter arrives fully set up and with your branding in the web interface.

Included

• Pre-configured factory settings: WiFi, MQTT broker, topics and enabled interfaces
• Custom appearance of the web interface — logo, colours, title
• Custom wording and default values in the setup wizard
• Pre-selection of the meter types your customers actually have
• Your own device name and mDNS address on the network

Covers firmware changes only. Labelling, enclosure and packaging are not included — please ask us about those separately.

Integration of a new smart meter

Your meter or your grid area is missing from the compatibility list? We bring it into the firmware.

Included

• Analysis of the meter protocol and telegram structure
• Implementation of parser and decryption in the firmware
• Mapping of the available OBIS codes to dashboard, JSON, MQTT and Modbus
• Testing against a real device
• Inclusion in the regular firmware and in the meter selection

This requires a physical sample of the meter in question at our premises. A recording of its telegrams is not sufficient — decryption and the behaviour of the interface can only be developed and tested reliably against real hardware. We return the sample once the work is complete.

Integration into your MQTT system

We deliver meter data into your system in exactly the structure your platform expects.

• Topic structure and payload format to your specification
• Connection to your broker including authentication and TLS
• Last will, retain and status messages as you require them
• Auto-discovery messages for your platform

Firmware modifications

From an extra reading to a protocol of your own — we wrote the firmware and we can extend it.

Price depends on scope. We estimate the effort after a short conversation and propose either a fixed price or a time budget.

Hardware modifications

Different enclosure, different interface, different bill of materials — the electronics are ours and can be changed deliberately.

Included

• Additional or modified interface boards
• Different enclosure, mounting method or connectors
• Changes to the antenna and radio path
• Adaptations for different certification and environmental requirements
• Component changes and redesign in case of obsolescence

Price depends on scope. Hardware changes usually require renewed conformity assessment; we factor that in.

Flashing your firmware

For Open-CPU orders: we ship the devices with your firmware and your configuration already installed.

Included

• Flashing your firmware image at the factory
• Injecting per-device data such as serial numbers, keys or certificates
• Functional testing of every device following your test procedure
• Marking the devices according to your specification
